Organs

Organ transplants save lives since 1954. However, major bottlenecks in terms of organ availability exist. Additionally, these interventions come with major side effects (due to the surgery itself, the organ or due to the medication required afterwards). One such promising example is the research around lab-grown autologous organ replacement (that is, growing organs from the patient’s own cells).
